Not that one really needs an excuse to visit the Mornington Peninsula but if you’re heading that way in the latter part of the week, we recommend you make a stop at Moorooduc Estate.
The McIntyre family are synonymous with great food and wine and Jill is set to focus on some enchanting food workshops, the first of which will be Tomato Day - see below for details. Although Jill’s Restaurant is now closed, the wood oven will be churning out fabulous wood fired pizzas at the weekend so over a glass or two and a slice or two we’ll still be able to enjoy the fine Moorooduc Estate hospitality.
Check out the Moorooduc website for the latest news and reviews, cellar door opening times, dates for the extremely popular Seasonal Feasts and all you need to know about the wines. To order any of the fantastic Moorooduc wines email moorooduc@ozemail.com.au
Moorooduc Release
One of Jill’s plans for when she closed her restaurant was to run some specialised food workshops, and we have mentioned these in passing in previous communications.
Today we are delighted to announce our inaugural food workshop:
Tomato Day!
On Sunday 14th March, we will be making all things tomato. This is a hands-on event: an opportunity to step through the kitchen door and learn some of Jill’s techniques and secrets as well as those of Italian nonna, Beatrice Venturini.
We will be making a traditional Italian passato as well as Jill’ green tomato chutney. Lunch, with wine of course, is included in the price and will feature a three course menu of gazpacho, tomato pizza and a tomato dessert (it is a fruit after all!)
The workshop is limited to ten people and will cost $120 per person.
Each participant will receive a Tomato Day folder, with all the recipes from the day, half a dozen 750ml bottles of the passato and a jar of the green tomato chutney to take home.
We will start at 9.30am for a full day of tomatoing.
Bookings are on a first-in basis, and we require full payment to secure your place.
Call the office on 03 5971 8506 or email at moorooduc@ozemail.com.au for any further information and to book.

We were there recently, and even if it wasn’t tomato day it would still be worth a visit - check out my post about it here: http://www.pcqy.wordpress.com
